What are webinars?

Webinars are web-based seminars. Delegates simply need to log on to a computer which has internet access and speakers. Webinars can be interactive, with Q&A sessions to allow full participation between presenters and the audience. Typically, the speakers will present their talk using a Powerpoint presentation, and the audience will be able to see the presentation on the web, and hear the speakers talking. There may be some extra functionality such as the ability for delegates to submit questions to the speakers throughout the presentation, which will be answered at the end of the session. Some webinars also feature polls on which the audience are asked to submit their opinion.

Why webinars?

Webinars are easy to access and cost-effective. Delegates have no need to travel to a venue, thus saving time and money. Our webinars will take place at around 7pm for about an hour, so delegates can login either at home or work without needing to take annual leave. Additionally, the webinar will be available for delegates to play back after the session, so it can act as a revision tool too.

UKCPA will continue to expand its portfolio of the ever-popular Masterclasses and symposia. The networking opportunities at these events are invaluable. However, webinars will be perfect for those who are short of time, and will benefit from a bite-size expert event.

What equipment will I need to attend a webinar?

  • A computer with audio capabilities (either speakers or headphones). Company firewalls should be disabled for the duration of your webinar as this can actively block the setup of the webinar
  • Internet access, preferably broadband
  • A phone line if using conference call technology
